Video, 12 minutes, 2009

 Elise, Iréne and four other old women meet every Thursday to read books. Their Study Group has been running since the 1970’s &#38;nbsp;and is organized by the Hosewives Association. During the last few years they have met at 91-year-old Iréne’s house because it is difficult for her to get out. They read the books aloud because some of them have a hard time reading the small letters.

 Iréne talks about her love of literature and that she wanted further education when she was young but her journalist father said he couldn’t afford it (even though he could afford her younger brothers’ education). Later on in life, when she retired from work she wanted to move to Uppsala to study at the university. But she never even asked her husband about it – she knew he wouldn’t have approved.

 The filmed documentary images are mixed with pictures from the Swedish IKEA-catalogue which shows books both as a social marker and a decoration prop.</description>

	Jürgen Habermas and God make tacos and watch a quiz show on television. God is worried that the humans have turned away from him and is thinking of a way to bring them back. God’s mother is pushing him to take control of the humans again. God is confused. Habermas doesn’t really see the problem but tries to give God some advice. They end up in discussions about secularity, responsibility, language and morality.&#38;nbsp;

	A ten minute long video portrait of Maud, a woman who has worked 30 years at the Swedish tax authorities. Maud is filmed in her daily work; answering tax questions by telephone. She tells us about some "tax affairs" and that the Swedish people often tell on each other if they think someone is not paying their taxes. She has no opinion on the politics of taxes, she just does her job.

 Maud really likes her job and is very proud to be good at it. She talks about a tattoo she got a few years ago, something that is a big part of her life. She tells about when she showed it at a party in the Tax authorities headquarters. Then she shows it in the film - it's the logo of the Tax authorities tattoed on her bottom.

 The title "Paying tax is sexy" is a quote from the Swedish minister Mona Sahlin in the mid 90's.

		<description>The Story of Birgitta
video, 34 minutes, 2004
Birgitta has been working all her life. Now 77, she still enjoys running the tiny company she originally began with her husband in order to manufacture the bead mat,&#38;nbsp;which he invented and patented decades before. She handles the challenges she now&#38;nbsp;faces as a widow and a female company head with thoughtful straightforwardness -&#38;nbsp;while nothing can replace the loss of a loved one, companies should be like family,&#38;nbsp;and work should give you something to do.(text from 13th New York Underground Film Festival programme)

	&#60;img width="1772" height="1417" width_o="1772" height_o="1417" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/429dc5624644805fff0d22033528806d59f1d9791ad09af967ffefa212945d15/birgitta-bil.jpg" data-mid="42105336" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/429dc5624644805fff0d22033528806d59f1d9791ad09af967ffefa212945d15/birgitta-bil.jpg" /&#62;
	&#60;img width="1772" height="1417" width_o="1772" height_o="1417" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/e21eefdcde9f4db924775518e8247ec0bf83f2d08ac294c9fda0909f5dd52707/birgitta-veikko-verkstad.jpg" data-mid="42105342" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/e21eefdcde9f4db924775518e8247ec0bf83f2d08ac294c9fda0909f5dd52707/birgitta-veikko-verkstad.jpg" /&#62;

	The documentary The Story of Birgitta is a portrait of Birgitta, the widow of the man&#38;nbsp;who invented the bead mat. Birgitta is 77 years old and still running their tiny&#38;nbsp;company with two employees. The film shows through her story not only the history&#38;nbsp;of the bead mat but also a taste of the vanishing industrial era of Sweden. Birgitta and&#38;nbsp;her husband never got rich from his invention. Big companies started producing the&#38;nbsp;bead mat, not caring that the small company in a basement in Stockholm held the&#38;nbsp;patent (and couldn't afford to sue them all).&#38;nbsp;

In the video Birgitta also tells the story of being a female head of a company and what&#38;nbsp;it's like becoming a widow. As a female boss you're questioned and as a widow you're&#38;nbsp;no longer invited to dinner parties.

	 Finnmarken part 1Gottlund (18 min)music: New Tango Orquestanarrator: Karolina Pontén
 Finnmarken part 2FINNSAM &#38;amp; The Finn Forest Museum (31 min)
 Finnmarken part 3Närsen &#38;amp; I (21 min). 2007.

FINNMARKEN 1-3 is a video documentary in three parts about the so called Finn-forests in central- and northern Sweden.

 During the 16th and 17th centuries, the Swedish King wanted to colonize the big unpopulated woodland areas in Sweden.

At that time, Finland was part of the Swedish empire and the King convinced thousands of Finns to move from Karelen to the previously uninhabited areas in Sweden (the Finn-forests). The Forest-finns got plenty of space for their farming and the Swedish King got more tax payers in return.

In some areas things went smoothly between the Finns and the Swedes (it is even said that some Swedes started speaking Finnish) but in others the Swedes gave the Forest-finns a hard time. The Forest-finns had to live far away from the Swedish villages and they weren’t allowed to keep their Finnish names. Many Swedish farmers tried to drive the Forest-finns away.

 The FINNMARKEN documentary project is also the story about FINNSAM, a contemporary organization of professional and amateur researchers who share a common interest in the Finn-forests. Many of the members of FINNSAM are ancestors of the Forest-finns and are very proud of their Finnish blood. In FINNMARKEN part 2 I join them for their 3-day-long annual spring meeting.

The third leg of the FINNMARKEN project is my personal connection to the Finn-forests. My late grandfather was from Närsen, a tiny village in the Finn-forest in Dalarna. When he was in his seventies, he wrote a book about the hard life in the Finn-forests. This story, my personal interest, is mixed with associations to similar contemporary movements. For example stories of how Swedish politicians nowaday try to get immigrants in suburbs in the south of Sweden to move to the areas in the north.

 The essayistic film is a mix of filmed documentary material, archive photographs and paper cut out-animations.

		<description>I begynnelsen var Ordet
video, 12 minutes, 2014
	&#60;img width="4110" height="2684" width_o="4110" height_o="2684" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/bab094f9034ea3e4ab874ff48147a06b99b40b0b179800a388b9c69945289d4c/gotet-kopia-2.jpg" data-mid="41795771" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/bab094f9034ea3e4ab874ff48147a06b99b40b0b179800a388b9c69945289d4c/gotet-kopia-2.jpg" /&#62;

	The film starts ”I begynnelsen var Ordet och Ordet var Gud och Ordet var hos Gud. I begynnelsen var också tjuv-Ante. Och tjuv-Antes grotta. I begynnelsen fanns berättelsen om att tjuv-Ante skulle bli tjuv.”

(In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. In the beginning there was also thief-Ante. And thief-Ante’s cave. In the beginning there was the story that thief-Ante would become a thief.”)

It is a twelve minutes long creation myth, but it is also a story about responsibility, choice, about a god who is sick of the human beings and their businesses (going to Mars, pouring water over beggars etc). God regrets that he ever gave the humans free will.

God asks the archangel for advice, but it turns out that they have a tricky relationship. God does not really trust the archangel. God is sick of&#38;nbsp; the human beings. God seems depressed or burned-out. He threatens to withdraw man’s free will. Then he pulls the cover over his head.

	A video installation with four films showing six of the 500 members in Pärlplatteklubben. The video portraits show six very different persons. The lowest common dominator was their membership in Pärlplatteklubben. They lived in different cities, were of different ages, worked at a public authority, studied architecture, were senior citizens.

 One video portrait shows an architecture student talking about an old community housing project. She's elaborating on how it could be updated to fit a person of today. An artistic political activist tells about small sculptural trees she makes of the plastic beads and which she, at night, with the help of a long ladder glues on to large house facades. Three older women describe their busy lives as retired and that they cannot find the time to go to all the different courses and cultural events they want to.

 I also showed the Pärlplatteklubben website on a computer. The monitors were set around a big "rug" made of hundreds of pärlplattor which the members of the Pärlplatteklubben had made for this installation.

	In January 2000 I started Pärlplatteklubben, a club/network for people making pärlplattor, pixle pictures made of plastic beads melted together by ironing. When I ended the club in 2006 it had over 500 member.

 The running activity in Pärlplatteklubben was that I every month decided a theme for the members to make pärlplattor/bead pictures about. The bead pictures were sent physically to me by regular mail, I scanned them and put the pictures on the Pärlplatteklubben website. I drew lots among the people who had entered the theme. Each bead picture was then wrapped and sent by mail to its new owner. Every month you entered with a bead picture you got someone else’s sent to you.

 I also arranged pärlplatteworkshops at art galleries and music festivals. During the workshops the visitors made enormous collective bead mats. The bead mats were then left for the hosting place as a gift. The collevtive pärlplattemaking was a social event where strangers linked by the easy practice of picturebead-making sat around a table for a long or short period. These sittings always started off conversations that went in all directions from what they were doing.&#38;nbsp;

 The every-month-activities rendered contacts between the members and me and between the members through the website’s guest book. Some of the members met in real life.

		<description>Ugglan, Storken och Bellman
Booklet and a permanent neon owl on a facade of a house in Hallonbergen. Marabouparken, 2005

	A neon owl on a facade of a block of flats in Hallonbergen, Sundbyberg. The owl is facing the walking path and the little outdoor area. It was made during a six months residency at Marabouparken 2004-2005.&#38;nbsp;Most of the time the owl keeps it’s eyes closed as if sleeping. Now and then, randomly, the owl opens it’s eyes to blink or to stay awake for a few hours.

In the 1970's pedagogical children's television show&#38;nbsp;Fablernas värld, a very wise owl told moralizing stories to the other animal puppets of how to behave, or that the violent one is just lonely and so on.

In connection to the neon owl I made the booklet Ugglan, Storken och Bellman (60 pages) for the exhibition at Marabouparken kunsthalle.&#38;nbsp;The booklet contains my story of growing up in the million program (though not Hallonbergen), loosely linked to found texts about owls and solidarity, accompanied by utopian ideas about the housing project and photos of different houses.
